Lisa King offers a modern take on a traditional craft: batik, the wax-resist dye technique, is an ancient art originating in Indonesia. The vividly coloured textiles it produces are highly desirable but notoriously tricky to harmonise with contemporary interiors. In the Batik for Interiors workshop, Lisa King collaborates with Fiona McKay (Design Museum), Laura Perryman (Colour of Saying) and Lishan Tham (Studio Shan) in a talk and hands-on session considering how batik and other heritage textiles can be styled within modern spaces.
