About

I'm Lisa King, a textile artist and designer living between London and Bangkok, with Indonesian and British heritage that runs through everything I make.

I studied print at Central Saint Martins, danced semi-professionally, and spent six years assisting Kylie Minogue's creative director and stylist, years that would inform my sense of colour, print, performance and train me in production for costume.  I've spent the last fifteen years designing seasonal collections and have been fortunate enough call  Fortnum & Mason, Harvey Nichols, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus as some of my stockists, and working on commissions for clients including Prada, Nike and The Savoy. More recently, my practice has taken me deeper into craft; most notably batik, the traditional Indonesian wax - resist textile I grew up surrounded by, through my mother's extraordinary collection of Southeast Asian cloth.

I'm inspired by nature, movement and the dichotomy of my three cross-cultural worlds; Thailand, Indonesia and the UK. Most of what I make begins with me on a walk outside with my camera, a trip to the flower market, making a still life, a drawing, or a piece of music. Then through my process I find a way to collaborate with other experts, whether it is  batik studios in Yogyakarta, digital fabric printers, pattern cutters and machinists here in the UK, mat weavers and basket painters in Thailand.

The products and collections in this shop are things I want to live with myself between homes and work places in Bangkok and East London. They carry my love of nature, of comfort, of colour and culture and craft. Print is such a personal thing and a pattern is always someone's story.  I hope you find something in the patterns of mine that you love.

We are a small studio. Everything is hand-wrapped with care. We are always open to commissions, or questions about our collections, please don't hesitate to get in touch, we love to hear from you.
